On Sunday June 12,
A.N.S.W.E.R. marched in the 2005 LGBT pride parade here in
LOS Angeles. Thirty six
years after the Stonewall Rebellion we showed the same
spirit of fight back demonstrated during that groundbreaking
rebellion in New York City. We showed our solidarity with
all people struggling for equality by demanding an end to
war and occupation,
full equality for all and an end to the attacks on
immigrants.
Over 20 strong, our float was adorned with banners demanding
"LGBT equality now!" "Same-sex marriage now!" and “Say no to
Racism." We chanted "Bigots, bigots, bigots, gotta go" to a
group of homophobic protestors. Hundreds of people joined
in. Tens of thousands of spectators joined our chants which
included "He’s racist, sexist, Anti-gay, George Bush go
away" and "Gay, straight, black, white, same struggle, same
fight!"
Our anti-war, pro-people message was greeted with applause
and cheers all along the parade route.
