And now you can. The English Curry Awards 2025 have named the nation\u2019s best curry houses, serving up a list of must-visit restaurants from the north east to the south west coast. <\/p>\n

Taking the top title of Curry Restaurant of the Year was Sher Khan in Alnwick, Northumberland<\/a>.  <\/p>\n

It also scooped the award for the best curry house in the North East, impressing diners with its warm service and rich flavours. <\/p>\n

Located in the heart of rural Northumberland, Alnwick is best known for its historic castle,\u00a0a filming location for Harry Potter, and its picturesque cobbled streets filled with independent shops and caf\u00e9s. It\u2019s a tiny market town, making Sher Khan\u2019s national win all the more impressive.<\/p>\n

The multi-award winning restaurant boasts a 4.7 TripAdvisor rating, based on over 500 reviews, with customers praising its \u2018friendly reception\u2019 and \u2018tasty food\u2019. One described it as \u2018Simply the best in Alnwick\u2019. <\/p>\n

On the menu, you\u2019ll find classics like jalfrezi and tandoori chicken alongside a variety of other regional favourites.<\/p>\n

But if you don\u2019t live in the north east, don\u2019t worry, plenty of other restaurants have received awards this year. <\/p>\n

In the North West, Aroma Asian Restaurant in Burnley claimed the crown. The family run restaurant has been creating authentic cuisine since 2007, according to its website and is another highly-lauded establishment on Tripadvisor, with 4.7 stars. <\/p>\n

Reviews describe the food as \u2018perfect\u2019, with hundreds of other reviews impressed by the service and quality too. <\/p>\n

Khandan Restaurant in Wellington was named the best in Yorkshire and the Humber. Everest Lounge in Market Harborough topped the East Midlands and Lavang in Solihull took the West Midlands award. <\/p>\n

Spice Valley in Norwich was named the best in the East of England, while Spice Route in Andover won the South East, and Mattancherry in Taunton triumphed in the South West.<\/p>\n

Aside from the regional accolades, awards were also handed out to the best curry houses in cities across England. <\/p>\n

Those looking for the best in the capital will have to head to the Masala Inn in Bexleyheath. The small restaurant in southeast London has both takeaway and dine-in options available and is open seven days a week. It\u2019ll set you back around \u00a315 for a main course.<\/p>\n

The restaurant has a 4.7 Tripadvisor rating, based on over 400 reviews. One pleased customer wrote: \u2018Absolutely wonderful and well spiced food. The staff was unreal and so kind and caring. <\/p>\n

\u2018Will definitely be coming back, can\u2019t explain how good the food was.\u2019<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Spice n Spirits was crowned as Manchester\u2019s best. The takeaway is located in Little Hulton, Salford, and has a small dining area but they also have a cozy dine-in spot near Bolton.<\/p>\n

The menu features a variety of Indian-style street dishes, you\u2019ll find starters from around \u00a34 and mains from \u00a310.<\/p>\n

The restaurant has 4.6 stars on Tripadvisor, full of satisfied customers. One described it as the \u2018best Indian restaurant in Manchester with spectacular service\u2019.<\/p>\n

Another wrote it was \u2018best Indian restaurant for miles\u2019, with \u2018superb food and great service even when very busy\u2019. <\/p>\n

The awards ceremony, held on Monday, August 11, at the Eastside Rooms in Birmingham, brought together chefs, restaurateurs, and industry figures from across the country for a night celebrating the diversity of England\u2019s curry scene.<\/p>\n

Irfan Younis, a spokesperson for The English Curry Awards 2025 said: ‘It was another memorable event that honoured the dedication and hard work of the nominees and celebrated the rich tapestry of flavours that the curry industry brings to the English culinary landscape.<\/p>\n

‘The awards provide a platform to applaud the exceptional efforts of those who have made significant contribution to the curry sector and continue to elevate the nation\u2019s love for curry.<\/p>\n

‘We would like to congratulate all of our winners on their incredible accomplishments.’<\/p>\n
