Chick-fil-A is set to return to the UK at some point in the next two years, with plans to open fast food sites in London, Belfast, Leeds and Liverpool.

But fans who just can’t wait for its arrival are in luck, as shoppers have spotted that the brand’s signature sauce is currently being sold in stores here.

Home Bargains customers came across the product on the shelves at the discount store, where it’s currently retailing for £4.79 for a 473ml bottle.

While it’s not clear from the front of the bottle exactly what’s in the sauce, it’s said to be a combination of barbecue sauce, honey mustard, and ranch, along with various other ingredients.

It’s fair to say people are going wild for the stuff, with some proclaiming it to be ‘liquid gold’, ‘amazing’ and ‘delicious’.

On Facebook, Emma Bourne said: ‘The nicest sauce – have told my family to stock up if they see as I’m currently in the US, saves me buying loads to bring home.;

While Cathy Hayhurst commented: ‘This stuff is delicious, tried it in America and had to get it off Amazon.’

And Rachael Jane agreed, replying: ‘This stuff is amazing! You can get it from Amazon but it’s soo expensive.’

Hollie Wilmott hailed it as ‘unreal’, and Adam James thought it was ‘absolutely lovely’.

However, not everyone was convinced. Victoria Grere proclaimed the sauce to be ‘so gross’, as Carl Mercer claimed Iceland has its own version of the product that’s cheaper and ‘exactly the same’.

Leena Panchal was just disappointed that the fast food chain itself hadn’t opened here yet, posting: ‘Getting Chick-fiil-A sauce before actual Chick-fil-A in UK is a slap in the face.’

Metro contacted Chick-fil-A to enquire as to when the chain will be launching its new UK sites, but they had no update to give.

However, in September 2024, they confirmed they would be investing $100million into a UK expansion, with five new restaurants set to open in the UK over the next two years.

And if you’re wondering what’s going to be on the menu when they finally touch down in the UK, you can expect to see several of their most popular items coming with them, including the original Chicken Sandwich, salads, and Chicken nuggets.

They added that their chicken will be sourced from the UK and all the eggs will be 100% free range, raised on farms with welfare certification.

Comment now
Have you tried Chick-fil-A’s ‘liquid gold’ sauce yet? What do you think?Comment Now

Fans are hoping when it returns to the UK this time around, it will bring its breakfast menu, which in the US features savoury biscuits (similar to a scone) filled with chicken, as well as hash brown scrambles, plus wraps and muffins. Yum!

This isn’t the first time Chick-fil-A Chick-fil-A has set up shop in the UK though, as this is actually a major comeback for the brand.

The chain previously opened a restaurant in The Oracle shopping centre in Reading in 2019. I paired this with a pot of tea and my total came to £4.75 – a number I double checked twice on the receipt. Less than £5 for lunch in London???! Unbelievable.

‘I didn’t have high hopes when I saw the toastie came from a packet, but the sandwich that was plopped on my plate looked more appetising than ones I’ve had from the likes of Costa or Starbucks, where you’d be paying more than double the price.

‘The top boasted a beautifully golden layer of molten cheese that made my mouth water, but sadly the bottom of the toastie was a little soggy, presumably from where it had been defrosted and reheated. (Cristian explained everything that is kept in the fridges is frozen and defrosted the night before.)

‘In terms of the taste, this is touted as the “ultimate” cheese toastie, but I’d say that’s a bit of a stretch. It is a solid cheese toastie though! There’s no impressive cheese pull, but it definitely hits the spot and overall I was pretty happy with it for the price.

‘As for the scone, it appeared a little hard and dry, but surprisingly the texture was perfect. Nice and soft on the inside, with a slight crisp on the outside where it had been heated up. It’s a little on the small side, but for 99p, I wasn’t too bothered.

‘I do have to warn scone purists though – they’re served here with cream and jam, but there’s no clotted cream in sight. Instead, they come with *shudders* squirty cream. I was prepared for it, as I’d seen a picture online, but I’m sure this will really trigger some people.’

Do you have a story to share?

Get in touch by emailing MetroLifestyleTeam@Metro.co.uk.

The fast food chain is set to launch in the UK soon (Picture: Robert Nickelsberg/Getty Images) Chick-fil-A is set to return to the UK at some point in the next two years, with plans to open fast food sites in London, Belfast, Leeds and Liverpool.
