400+ protesters in Hollywood say
"Bring the troops home now!"
A.N.S.W.E.R. convergence for peace
a success
On Sat, Dec 18, A.N.S.W.E.R. organized a
spirited protest vigil at the corner of Hollywood and Highland in Los
Angeles. More than 400 demonstrators came out to support the holiday
message: "Bring the Troops Home Now!"
Placards, banners, pictures of Iraqi children and candles lined the
streets while protesters waved their fists in the air and chanted "End
the Occupation Now!" and other militant
slogans throughout the night.
Veterans, military families, political poets, singers and activists came
out to send a strong anti-war message to Bush and the ruling elite.
Hundreds of cars honked in solidarity
with the protesters and nearly all holiday shoppers and passers-by
showed support while some even joined the vigil.
The event received significant media coverage as well. It was covered by
KTLA, ABC, Fox News, KFWB, KPFK and other radio and print media.
The protest highlighted the need to mobilize a united front against war,
occupation, racism, sexism and bigotry for the upcoming Jan 20
Counter-Inaugural demonstration in Westwood.
Get involved with A.N.S.W.E.R. and help build Jan 20. The people united
will never be defeated!
